Marriage is hard, I am told…by every married person I have ever met. It’s a lot of work, and never giving up. Never settling and always trying to better yourself along with your relationship. Mickenzie and Josh have been together for a total of 12 years! They haven’t lost any love but gained it. Gained it in experience, two beautiful children, and caring for each other. It hasn’t always been easy but they both do a great job of bettering their relationship so they can grow together. This session got planned when I received a message from Josh. He was planning a two part surprise date for his beautiful wife Mickenzie. I was so excited! First because how sweet and thoughtful is that! Second I get to capture these memories! I sent him my complimentary style guide to help him prepare for the session. The first part of the date was planned a week before the session. Josh took her shopping! Shopping for gorgeous outfits for the session! Now he did end up having to tell her what they were shopping for because it was a little difficult not to but she was thrilled when she found out! She ended up getting two amazing dresses, and he picked out (well it actually picked them, because its the first one they seen) a perfect suit!
Needless to say they showed up looking absolutely wonderful! It of course was soooo hot the day of the session but you would never know that by these pictures! I found the perfect spot in town, so they wouldn’t be in direct light while it was still so hot, then we moved out to the desert where we got a little breeze when the sun went down a little more. They rocked each location!
I have always enjoyed capturing the Schavers big moments from pictures with Acen to newborn pictures of liv or just mini mothers day sessions. These two have some great little ones! They got to hang out with there Grandma and Grandpa for this session though. This one was for mommy and daddy! I am just still in awe of how great it is Josh decided to do this for her!
Josh and Mickenzie are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Very polite and down to earth, they made this session so great and fun. They trusted me when I told them to do “silly” things and never second guessed why I had them turning in a “weird” way! I am happy they trusted me because these photos turned out amazing and they look fantastic in them!! Which lets be honest neither of them take a bad picture ever!
One of my favorite things on the session was when I was taking pictures of just Mickenzie and I would see out of the corner of my eye Josh pick up his phone and take a couple of pictures on his phone. I loved seeing that! Hes so proud shes his wife and that just makes me so happy for both of them!
Both Justice and I were reminded how important it is to keep the love alive always in a relationship. How important it is to love the one your with and always keep moving forward, bettering your selves and your relationship. I hope Mickenzie and Josh always keep their love alive and I have a feeling they both will!

Two absolutely beautiful people inside and out. You captured their true love gorgeously Brittany. I’ll admit, I’m jealous Randy hasn’t done this for us yet. 🙂 Thanks for the uplifting post and for sharing such a special moment with us.
Some times men just need “subtle“ hints 😉
These pictures are gorgeous, you capture so much in them. I also love reading the story!!
Thank you so much! Their story was so fun to write, they are so cute!
